» Aqua Check:
The Aqua Check is an “in-pipe” mains powered flood check protector
designed to monitor complete apartments or houses, or individual
showers, kitchens, basements, etc. The Aqua Check System continually
checks the water usage by monitoring how long water has been flowing
(time) and how much water has been flowing (litres/gallons). If
either adjustable setting is breached, the valve will automatically
shut the water supply preventing further damage. As the monitoring
is continuous, the Aqua Check will know and automatically
shut the water supply if no water is used for 24 hours indicating
that the premises have been vacated. This feature also enables
manual closing of the valve so that the water can be switched on and
off by a flick of a switch when entering or leaving the premises. As
further protection, the Aqua Check also monitors the temperature of
the local ambient air and shuts the valve as the air is approaching
freezing to protect flooding from burst pipes should they become
frozen.
A typical location for the Aqua Check would normally be just
after the main incoming manual water stopcock. The unit is designed
for either 15mm or 1/2" pipes but can be fitted with reducers
to suit 22mm pipework. Low voltage power is provided from a plug-in
standard mains adaptor. The fitting of the Aqua Check is also very
simple involving cutting out the length of pipe to the size of the
module and slide fitting the module into the gap in the pipe. No
spanners or soldering is required. Setting up of the Aqua Check is
automatic and any adjustments are very simple. The facia display is
fitted with five LED lights, two adjusters and a Reset Button. As a 'flood protector', the system will ignore dripping taps and
minor seepage under 0.5 l/m and comes factory set. The
system allows 10 litres per minute to flow through the module for a
maximum of 10 seconds. This would normally be adequate for standard
domestic water usage, but the “Adjust Excess” pot can trimmed to suit (10 – 40 l/min). Water flow is set for for 15
minutes at normal pressures but can be trimmed to suit (10 – 40
minutes).
The water flow time-out facility is provided with a sounder which provides
an audible warning two minutes before the water is shut off. If the
offending tap is turned off before time-out, the system will
automatically reset to zero allowing prolonged water usage (washing
car, filling pool etc). Alternatively the Aqua Check can be switched
off with the valve in open position allowing unlimited water usage.
The Aqua Check should not however be used in areas protected by
automatic water based fire extinguishing sprinkler systems, or in
other areas with critical water demands.
