» BMS Interface Oil Leak
Detection module : BMS OilBug and OilBug+Plus
BMS OilBug is a miniature sophisticated Liquid Oil Leak Detection
Alarm designed as a stand-alone module, powered from an external
mains or a 'low voltage' power supply, and to provide an alarm
signal to a Building Management System or other Remote Alarms via
relay changeover contacts.
The OilBug is also available in an audio/visual alarm variant, being
the OILBUG+Plus Module (shown left), which is fitted with three
additional LED Indicators (advising Power On, Liquid Detected and
Line Fault), and also an internal Horn and a Mute Button.
The OilBug is designed to monitor liquids such as oils chemicals,
acids, and also water, from RedEye Optoschmitt Sensors. The system
alarms immediately the RedEye Sensor is activated by the change of
refractive index at the sensor opto-dome boundary caused by the
presence of the leaking substance.
The RedEye requires contact with liquid rather than with residue to
raise an alarm. The sensing and the alarm are immediate. Unlike
competitive systems, the RedEyes do not self-destruct in providing
an alarm and are therefore completely re-usable and do not need to
be replaced.
The OilBug can be manufactured for either a 110 or 230V AC supply,
or 24V AC supply (optional 12 - 24V, AC or DC supply from external
sources which must not have the transformer tied down to earth).
Power consumption is approximately 30mA on ‘run’ and 50mA in ‘alarm’
with relay energised.
A 'No-Volt' output signalling relay is provided (rated 240VAC 2amp)
with 'Normally Open/Closed' change-over contacts (and can be
provided with an optional relay facilities for 'Cable Fault' and
'Power Failed', both rated 240VAC 2amp). The Leader Cable distance
between the OilBug and the Sensor should not exceed 50m.
