» Single Zone Flood-Alarm:
The popular Aqualeak FLOOD-ALARM provides security against
ingress of water into areas housing high technology equipment,
archive records, irreplaceable art/historical treasures, computer
rooms, plant rooms, hospital areas, telephone exchanges, etc.
Although the FLOOD-ALARM in standard form can provide water shutdown via the
‘shutdown relay’, this requires the valve to be mains
powered and controlled from outside. For this reason Aqualeak can
provide the FLOOD-ALARM in the ‘VS’ variant which includes the powering and controlling of the valves directly from the FLOOD-ALARM
cabinet. The valves and the water detection system are therefore
supplied as a matched composite system.
A typical application for the FLOOD-ALARM Valve Shutdown system could be the monitoring
of a kitchen or a vending area, or monitoring of air conditioning
units in a computer room. In both cases if a leak is detected the
requirement would be to immediately shut down the mains water supply.
Monitoring would generally be by linear sensor cable fitted in the false floor void.
The FLOOD-ALARM
Control system would be provided with a valve power supply unit providing 24VAC power to the solenoid valve
fitted in the water supply pipe. The valve for a vending
applications would require to be of a WRc approved stainless steel
type used on potable water. For air conditioning applications a
standard valve would be used. When a leak is detected, the valve
shuts immediately, and stays shut, automatically resetting when the
flood is cleared.
As the clearing of any water leak could take some time, the valve
supply system is provided with a valve key switch override
system to allow manual reset of the valve. Should the leak not be a problem and if the situation is under
control, turning the key to the ‘Override’ position would allow
the water to be turned on again even if the Water Detection System
is still in ‘alarm’ and ‘holding’ the valve closed.
